Lost in the Lammermuirs, somewhere above Spott with a highland cow
This illustration commemorates my friend’s puncture… she was somewhere in the Crystal Rig wind farm in the Lammermuirs, somewhere above Spott, which is somewhere above Dunbar. By herself, with an almost dead phone. Oops. I threw in a highland cow to keep her company.
Some of the scene actually began life in an illustration for a book I made for the composer Alasdair Nicolson. It was for a piece of his called Pilgrim, and had three eerie figures walking along the horizon line. I made the moody autumnal cycling scene for my 2021 calendar.
The highland cow print is available as a 30x40cm image (40×50 once mounted) or 20cm square (30cm once mounted).
I’ve also made some products, including enamel mugs for those intrepid explorers who like to take a hot drink along on their adventures. There’s a velvety ‘ faux suede’ cushion, and the coaster is part of a set of East Lothian hills, which also includes North Berwick Law, Traprain, harvest at Camptoun and my other Lammermuir cycling image, among others.
