Bell Rock Lighthouse, built by Robert Stevenson between 1807 and 1811, is the world’s oldest surviving sea-washed lighthouse.
Sitting 11 miles off the coast of Arbroath in the North Sea, the rock was famous for shipwrecks, being hidden below the surface of the sea for all but a few hours at low tide. Construction was challenging (so much so that it featured in a BBC documentary as one of the seven industrial wonders of the world) but no accidents have been recorded since the first light was emitted in February 1811. The lighthouse has been automated since 1988.
Framing will be done at Roo Art in Haddington and you can choose a white frame or one with some warm grey tones like the close-up photo.
Bell Rock Lighthouse features on a coaster in a set of Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth illustrations, and is available as a greetings card.

About my art: I draw digitally in Adobe Illustrator using a Wacom drawing tablet, often incorporating painted and captured textures into my images later. My commissioned illustration features in many local brands. It can be found on theatre posters and albums across the country, and has also included shortbread tins, books, games, animations and recently – the pinnacle of success – a bin in North Berwick.
