I was amazed by a stunning sunset recently, that was so red it reminded me of my old photos of a sunset at Fish River Canyon in Namibia. This print is my attempt to capture the warmth.

Description

Signed, limited edition (one of 50) giclee print of my Sunset over Fidra illustration. Image size is 40x30cm, framed it’s 53x43cm. I was amazed by a stunning sunset recently, that was so red it reminded me of my old photos of a sunset at Fish River Canyon in Namibia. This print is my attempt to capture the warmth. It’s the view if you go East along the beach at Yellowcraigs then look back over to Fidra.
The island of Fidra, 2.5 miles north-west of North Berwick, is now an RSPB reserve. Its grassy slopes and cliffs are home to small populations of guillemots, razorbills, gulls and puffins. Robert Louis Stevenson often visited the area and it is claimed he based his map of Treasure Island on the shape of Fidra.
I made two versions of this illustration, one with a paddle-boarder heading out to the water, because I couldn’t decide. I’m leaning towards the one without, but I have both at the moment, so if you’re a paddle boarder and would like that version, let me know.

Please note, the framed image is a mock-up because I haven’t worked out how to photograph through glass – my frames are actually nicer than the mock-up. They’re slightly textured, made of wood and glass. Your print will be numbered, titled and signed on the print and on the mount.

I also have a camping mug, a coaster and a tote bag of my Fidra sunset illustration. The images on this site are RGB, so your print will differ slightly due to screen calibration and colour mode.

Gift wrapping can be added at the cart. I use coloured kraft paper and paper ribbon (entirely recyclable). I’ll also write your message in one of my greetings cards.

Local collection: if you opt for Haddington pick-up in the shipping options, I’ll email you the address.

About my art: I draw digitally in Adobe Illustrator using a Wacom drawing tablet, often incorporating painted and captured textures into my images later. My commissioned illustration features in many local brands. It can be found on theatre posters and albums across the country, and has also included shortbread tins, books, games, animations and recently – the pinnacle of success – a bin in North Berwick.
