Scots Fiddle Festival illustration & design
I’ve been responsible for the Scots Fiddle Festival look for a long time now! In the first few years, I created something new each time, but once I’d made the castle-fiddle design, it stuck, gradually establishing itself as the festival brand. The event happens over a weekend in November every year, in Edinburgh, and brings together musicians from all over the world in concerts, ceilidhs, workshops and sessions.
To mark its 25th birthday in 2020, the SFF decided to celebrate by publishing a new tune collection, commissioning 25 fiddle-playing composers to write something new. When Covid stopped live performance, this became particularly poignant, giving performers some work. By the time the celebration could happen, it was two years later, so they added another two composers and tunes to the book.
