Sunset over Fidra print
I was amazed by a stunning sunset recently, that was so red it reminded me of my old photos of a sunset at Fish River Canyon in Namibia. This print is my attempt to capture the warmth. It’s the view if you go East along the beach at Yellowcraigs then look back over to Fidra.
The island of Fidra, 2.5 miles north-west of North Berwick, is now an RSPB reserve. Its grassy slopes and cliffs are home to small populations of guillemots, razorbills, gulls and puffins. Robert Louis Stevenson often visited the area and it is claimed he based his map of Treasure Island on the shape of Fidra.
I made two versions of this illustration, one with a paddle-boarder heading out to the water, because I couldn’t decide. I’m leaning towards the one without, but I have both at the moment. Sunset over Fidra is available as a limited edition (one of 50) giclee print in my shop. The image is 30 x 40cm; once mounted/framed it’s 40 x 50cm.
